PHEM Buffer
PHEM buffer has been used primarily for tissues and cell cultures being processed for immunocytochemical studies. Most antigens, especially intra cellular ones, stain better using PHEM than those processed using PBS.

Phosphate Buffer Saline (PBS)
Commonly used in biochemistry, it is a salty solution containing sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium phosphate and potassium phosphate. Isotonic and non-toxic to cells. 1X PBS final concentration is 8.0 g/L NaCl, 0.2 g/L KCl, 1.42 g/L Na2HPO4, 0.24 g/L KH2PO4 and pH 7.4.
