Grid-Stick Glue is a strong adhesive that will adhere to Synaptek Grid-Sticks within various staining applications. Note that the Grid-Stick Glue, once cured and immersed into inorganic solvents, will maintain its adhesiveness. Electron Microscopy Sciences sells this product in 5 ml containers, enough for about 150-200 coatings. This product has a shelf life of approximately 6 months to one year.
Note: When drying, make sure that the environment is free of dust, particles, or any other contaminants.
Note: This will avoid the glue from sticking to the bottom of the petri dish.
Note: GridSticks that are coated but uncured can be placed into a Synaptek pipette. BE SURE to indicate through labeling or marking that the pipette is not to be used for staining procedures.
Note: If the GridStick does not adhere or loses adhesion, it is an indication of dirt built-up on its surface. As mentioned above, PLEASE make sure that the adhering area is dust-free and completely clear of contaminants.
Note: If the Grid-Stick Glue seems to be too thick or sticky for your grids, you may choose to dilute the product with Xylene. If, on the other hand, a more thick and sticky coating is desired, this may be attained by removing the cap of the Grid-Stick Glue and leaving it off for 20 minutes so that the Xylene can evaporate, increasing the viscosity of the adhesive.
Note: To remove the Grid-Stick Glue from the GridStick, soak the GridStick in Xylene solution for 24 hours. After soaking, clean the GridStick by soaking it in Xylene or 99% Isopropanol. Be sure to wipe using lens-paper. After the process, you may begin the recoating process.
